Tin
Tin (symbol Sn, atomic number 50) is a group 14 metal. Known since antiquity, it was used to make bronze and protect objects from oxidation. Today, it is still used for welding and metal coating. It has several stable isotopes and exists as an oxide (SnO₂) in cassiterite, its main ore. Slightly toxic, tin is solid and metallic at room temperature.
Tungsten
Tungsten (symbol W, atomic number 74) is a rare metal, discovered in 1781 and isolated in 1783. It is found mainly in scheelite and wolframite. Very dense (19.25 g/cm³) and resistant, it has the highest melting point (3,422 °C) and boiling point (5,555 °C) of all elements. Used in light bulbs, X-ray tubes, welding, alloys and projectiles, it also serves as an industrial catalyst. Present in some bacteria, it remains slightly toxic to animals.
Tantalum
Tantalum (symbol Ta, atomic number 73) is a rare, hard and corrosion-resistant metal, blue-gray in color. Belonging to refractory metals, it is used in alloys, laboratory equipment and especially in electronic capacitors (phones, computers, consoles, etc.). Discovered in tantalite, columbite and coltan minerals, it is often associated with niobium. Thanks to its great chemical stability, tantalum is considered a critical technological element.
